HUMBLE BEGINNING

Upon the advice of Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) with the expected presidential visit of Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (PGMA) to Qatar, four (4) professional organizations namely; PSME-Q, IIEE-SQC, PICE Qatar and UAP-QaC convened a meeting on 3rd Quarter of 2008 with its main objective to prepare a position paper requesting the inclusion of Qatar in the conduct of Special Professional Licensure Board Examination (SPLBE) in the Middle East. On December 28, 2008, as the position paper was presented to PGMA, the President committed to bring the Profession Regulation Commission (PRC) SPLBE team to Qatar the following year to conduct the board examinations.

EVOLUTIONS OF PPO-Q

Through the experience of Engr. Rey B. Castillo (PSME-Q) and Engr. Robert U. Mabulay (IIEE-SQC) in the conduct of SPLBE when they were in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the four (4) professional organizations decided to create a SPLBE Ad Hoc Committee. The Ad Hoc Committee was unanimously agreed to be chaired by Engr. Rey B. Castillo (PSME-Q) and further agreed that the Organizational Host Chapter Chairmanship shall be in “rotational mode”. The group achieved its defining milestone with the PRC SPLBE team conducting its 1st SPLBE in Qatar during the holidays of “Eid Al Fitr” or “Hajj in 2009.

Upon the inclusion of PICPA Doha in 2010, the group decided to rename the organization to “Philippine Professional Organization-Qatar (PPO-Q) by which, Engr. Eric Garcia (PICE Qatar) chaired the newly formed PPO-Q in accordance with the agreed Host Chapter Chairmanship.

The growth of the organization continues with PNAQ joining after, followed by IECEP, then the FILRAQ and so forth. To date, there are 16 strong professional organizations comprising the PPO-Q which includes the following; PSME-Q, PICE QATAR, UAP QA, IIEE-SQC, PICPA DOHA, PNA-Q, IECEP-Q, FILRAQ, AFE-Q, FIL-ARPQ, GEP-Q, FDOQ, IPAO-Q, NDAP-Q, NAMPAP-Q , PIEP QATAR, PICHE-Q, PAMET-Q and SAEPEMEAQ

PRIMORDIAL OBJECTIVE OF PPO-Q

PPO-Q’s primordial objective is to assist respective professional organizations in preparing Qatar-based examinees by conducting review classes prior to taking the licensure examinations. The enduring legacy and vital accomplishment of PPO-Q is manifested by the sheer multitude of professionals that benefitted via SPLBE who were consequently included in PRC’s Book of Professionals Registry.

PPO-Q’s influence in Qatar’s Filipino community has transcend beyond the SPLBE and it is now a viable partner of the POLO OWWA and the Philippine Embassy’s social and charitable activities with professional organizations participating in sports, community service and outreach programs.

Founded on year 2009 with 4 organizations (PSME, PICE, UAP, IIEE)

OBJECTIVE AND MANDATES

Presides over the general supervision of the Organization's activities.
Collaborate and/or interact with the Embassy as advised and when a need arises.
Supports and collaborate with POLO prior, during and after the conduct of SPLE and its other social and charitable programs.
Organize and conduct Technical Seminars /Information dissemination that provides inter-discipline added value to uplift the technical knowledge in the professions practice for each member in Qatar.
Promote the quality and competencies of Filipino Professionals with other nationalities in Qatar.
Collaborate with the Filipino Community in matters of community service/s.
Preserve the integrity of PPO-Q being non-political, non-sectarian and non-business or non-profit entity.
Receive and record the financial support of the member organizations for any specific activity and pursuit of the aforesaid objectives.
