HISTORY
A New Beginning
On October 14, 2021, a significant step was taken towards fostering a supportive community for Filipino chemical engineers in Qatar. The formation of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers Qatar Chapter (PIChE Qatar) began under the name Philippine Chemical Engineers Qatar (PChEQ). This initiative aimed to gather Qatar-based chemical engineers to create a network for mutual support and professional growth. The initial meeting, which laid the foundation for this vibrant community, took place at Figaro Qatar in Bin Mahmoud, Doha, Qatar. It was attended by Engr. Mark Louie Magno, Engr. Ched Rahsil Cabañero, Engr. Amiel Santos, Engr. Sansan Conjurado, Engr. Angelica Gozar, Engr. Jordan Rotea, and Engr. Patrick Luis Soriano.
First Steps
The momentum continued to build as PIChE Qatar held its first assembly on November 4, 2021, at Olives Restaurant in Doha, Qatar. This gathering marked the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening the bonds within the community and setting the stage for future activities.
Leadership Formation
On December 29, 2021, PIChE Qatar held its first general election for the Board of Directors via Zoom. This event saw Engr. Mark Louie Magno elected as the inaugural President of the chapter, signifying a new era of leadership and vision for the organization.
Official Induction
The journey reached another milestone on March 11, 2022, when PIChE Qatar and its Board of Directors were officially inducted as the third international chapter under the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers, Inc. The induction and oath-taking ceremony were conducted virtually, marking the formal recognition of PIChE Qatar’s commitment to the professional development of its members.
Ongoing Impact
Since its inception, PIChE Qatar has been a dynamic force in Qatar, making significant contributions through various initiatives. The chapter’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs, community engagement activities, and Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) programs are just a few examples of its dedication to the advancement and support of chemical engineers in Qatar.
PIChE Qatar continues to thrive, embodying a spirit of collaboration and professional excellence, and remains a cornerstone for Filipino chemical engineers in Qatar, ensuring their growth, development, and integration within the global chemical engineering community.
PIChE Qatar Chapter is committed to representing the Institute with steadfast professionalism, fostering a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange, promoting camaraderie, and extending support to fellow Overseas Filipino Workers. We aim to enhance global competitiveness, nurture the 'bayanihan spirit,' facilitate professional development, and inspire the next generation of Chemical Engineers.
Outstanding Organization Empowering Filipino Chemical Engineers in Qatar.
To date, there are over 34,000 registered ChE’s in the Philippines, with a big number gainfully employed in jobs outside of the country. Indeed, the ChE profession has been a big part of the overseas labor workforce, starting from the late 80’s when countries in the Middle East started developing their chemical process industries. Up to this time, there remain a substantial number of ChE’s still employed in well-paying jobs outside of the country, doing their country proud with their skills, industry and competence.
As Professional Chemical Engineers, we adhere to the following core values:
Excellence

PIChE is recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission as the only Accredited Professional Organization (APO) for the chemical engineering profession, with Accreditation No.: 2014-001-006. PIChE is also affiliated with the Philippine Federation of Professional Association (PFPA), the umbrella organization of all APO’s in the country, ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO), Asia Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineers (APCChE), as well as with the Philippine Technological Council (PTC). It is the designated APO for the assessment and evaluation of applications for admission of chemical engineers to the ASEAN and APEC Engineer Registers.
